Dan’s first trip to London (via
Icelandic Airways) entailed just about every transportation fiasco known
to humankind. His second (and very smooth) trip was in May 1998,
for Karin’s graduation from the American College in London and for the
purpose outlined in the next question. The pictures at the top of this
page were taken right after the graduation ceremonies, which were held
at London’s Savoy Theatre. Dan claims not to be photogenic, but he
certainly projected a great likeness at this happy occasion.

The OXO Tower is an architectural gem on the south bank of the Thames. It was once the headquarters for the manufacturer of OXO bouillon (as in beef bouillon, not gold bullion) and is notable for the large windows which spell out OXO near the top of the building. It has now been converted into flats and other uses, and one of Karin’s instructors lived there. It offers a wonderful view back toward London.
